Iced coffee isn’t as simple as drinking coffee that’s just become cold. Creating a great iced coffee takes just as much care and preparation as its hot brethren. Are you considering trying out some iced coffee? These recipes will let you make it quickly and easily at home!

Benefits of Iced Coffee

Iced coffee has become the favorite of many people. Whether this involves the arduous cold brewing process, or is with a favorite instant coffee, iced coffee continues to grow in popularity. There are some benefits to iced coffee. The first benefit is the temperature. There’s no risk of burning one’s mouth or body through a coffee spill. This is especially useful if you are drinking coffee while driving.

There are also some health benefits to drinking iced coffee. It’s often easier on the stomach and digestive system for people who have sensitive stomachs. There’s been some studies to show that it benefits metabolisms and mood. It can also potentially help to lower the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s disease! With all of those benefits, it’s no wonder more people are trying iced coffee.

Coffee Ice Cubes

Some people may be thinking about the fact that the water in ice cubes can dilute that wonderful coffee flavor in an iced coffee. Well, coffee ice cubes are a great way to ensure that never happens! The concept is simple. Brew some coffee and then freeze them into ice cubes. However, it’s possible to get more creative.

Depending on what you’re planning on drinking, you can make coffee ice cubes to match. You can make a mocha version by simple using 1 cup iced coffee, 1 cup milk and 6 tbsp of your favorite chocolate milk mix. Caramel macchiato cubes can be accomplished by using 1 cup iced coffee, 1 cup milk and ¼ cup caramel. Finally, if you’re fond of Vietnamese style coffee, you can use 3 parts iced coffee to 1 part sweetened condensed milk!

Iced Coffee Recipes

Many people may not know how to make iced coffee. However, it’s really not that difficult. There are a wide variety of iced coffee recipes out there that range from simple to extreme. The basic concept of iced coffee comes down to cooling off coffee. Typically, ice cubes are used to provide quick cooling or to keep an already chilled mixture cold. These are some simple iced coffee recipes.

Iced Cafe Latte

Ingredients:

  • ¼ Cup Ground Coffee
  • 2 cups Cold Water
  • 14 oz (1 can) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Ice Cubes (Ideally Coffee Ice Cubes)

Start by brewing your favorite coffee using the cold water. Once it’s brewed, mix the coffee and the condensed milk in a pitcher or other serving unit. Finally, pour over ice and serve.

Caramel Macchiato Frappe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp Instant Coffee
  • 2 tbsp Hot Water
  • ⅔ cup Chocolate Milk
  • 4 tbsp Caramel topping
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 to 14 ice cubes
  • Whipped Cream

This delicious drink starts with dissolving the instant coffee into the water. Don’t be deceived by the relatively small amount of water, the flavor will spread throughout the drink. Put all of the ingredients in a blender except for the whipped cream. Set aside about half of the caramel. Process until the beverage takes on a “slushie” like consistency. Serve in two glasses and top with whipped cream. Drizzle with the remaining saved caramel. It’s a fraction of the cost of getting it at a coffee shop too!
